My Honest DreamBox Review

When nosotros built a new business firm four years agone I was thrilled to be getting a dedicated craft room. I'd been sewing at my kitchen table and crafting in a corner of our family room for years and I couldn't await to accept a room of my own. One of the things I was almost looking frontward to was beingness able to stop in the center of a project and not have to make clean everything up. Just being able to walk out and close the door sounded amazing.

Well, things didn't work quite as I had planned. I didn't have whatever piece of furniture for my craft room and I didn't know what to get, and then I concluded upwards with a couple Ikea tables and a shelving unit. I didn't take a good organization organisation and then the room was ever a mess. I'm not usually a messy person, but information technology'due south difficult to be tidy when you lot don't take a specific place for things to get. Fifty-fifty when the room was adequately make clean, it wasn't a place I was excited to be in. I actually ended upwardly crafting on the kitchen table again, just because it was a nicer space to be in.

Tables along the side of a room with sewing machines on them and chairs

I really wanted to brand my craft room a nice identify that I enjoyed spending time in, but I wasn't certain where to start. I idea about get custom shelving congenital in, but the idea of finding a carpenter and designing something that would work was intimidating. Plus I worried it would exist a large investment for shelving and then I'd nonetheless accept to purchase all sorts of bins or buckets to endeavour to get things organized.

The DreamBox Craft Storage Unit

That's when the folks at Create Room reached out to me to come across if I wanted to try out a DreamBox. It sounded similar the answer to all my crafting and organization woes!

Turns out it was. It'southward completely transformed my craft space into a cute, functional place for me to work while giving me enough of organized, accessible storage space.

The DreamBox craft organization system can completely transform your craft room! Learn what I love about it, and what I don't.

I've put together a video bout of my DreamBox which has TONS of data about the box. After the video I'll include lots of photos and even more than information on the DreamBox, including pros and cons.

DreamBox Video Bout

If you might be interested in a DreamBox, watch this video tour. It'southward 11 minutes long and I give lots of information about the box, including details on delivery, associates, how I have my box gear up, and more.

And so recollect what my room looked like before? This is what information technology looks like at present:

DreamBox and Sew Station closed up into white cabinets

When the box is folded upwardly it looks like a beautiful cabinet and information technology keeps all my supplies contained and tidy (I practice take my fabric stored in the closet, but my other crafting and sewing supplies are all inside the box). NOTE: The smaller cabinet that yous run into under the window is the make new Sew Station, also from The Original Scrapbox, and my sewing machine is inside it! I'll tell y'all all most that tomorrow!

Here is what the DreamBox looked similar when I got it all unpacked and ready:

Wall sized craft storage system with multiple shelves and bins to hold supplies as well as a pull out table

My box includes the White Shaker exterior, the crown (the slice on pinnacle that includes a calorie-free) and the 80 acrylic tote bundle. In that location is a lot of room to store supplies. Hither's what it looks like now that I've moved my things in:

The DreamBox craft organization system

As I mentioned in the video, I really wanted my room to look tidy and beautiful, so I decided to line about of the clear acrylic totes with colored card stock. Most of my craft supplies aren't color coordinated and I didn't desire anything to look messy, so I sacrificed beingness able to see through the fronts of the bins. I'd planned to add labels to the bins, but I've found that I've already memorized where everything is, and I can still run across through the sides of the bins if I need to get searching for something. With and then many compartments, I have easy access to all my crafting supplies.

DreamBox Pros and Cons: what I love

These are the things that really brand the DreamBox special:

The fold upwards/open out feature is really pretty amazing. Before I could never take used my craft room for another purpose, similar letting guests sleep in at that place, simply now I can. With the box folded up I have room to put an air mattress down on the floor and, even ameliorate, I'chiliad not embarrassed to allow people go in there! Opening and closing the box is quite easy to practice; the design is really pretty slick. The swing doors open up easily considering they are on sturdy steel pulley wheels.

The box works in whatever size space you have. I'm lucky enough to accept a defended craft room, but if you don't the DreamBox can work in just about any space. The doors don't have to exist opened all the way out; y'all could continue them in a U-shape around the table and fit the entire affair in a much smaller space.

The plastic totes are wonderful! The hard thing about storing arts and crafts supplies on traditional shelves is that craft supplies come up in different shapes and sizes, and many of them are small-scale. Small particular just go lost in larger bins, which is what happened when I had all my supplies in IKEA cubes. The DreamBox totes come in 3 different sizes. The large totes are big enough to concur 12×12 scrapbook paper. The shoebox totes are perfect for things like ribbon and sticker sheets. And so at that place are plenty of small articulate totes to aid me keep track of tiny items.

Shelves in a DreamBox with bins, books, sewing machine and thread spool

I also love the adaptable shelves! You can place them where yous'd similar to conform your supplies best. Y'all'll find that all my totes are on shelves, but since I got my box Create Room has made customizing your unit fifty-fifty simpler. They now have tote tracks that eliminate the need for shelves under the large totes! And don't forget there's actress storage space underneath the tabular array that's perfect for larger items, like a Cricut or Silhouette.

Getting organized ways you won't keep buying supplies yous already have only couldn't find! When I went through all my supplies to motility them over I was surprised past how many things I had multiples of. I dearest that now I know exactly what I accept and exactly where it is – when my kids are looking for googly eyes or felt balls or gluesticks I know exactly where to tell them to detect it. Having a designated spot for everything also makes it much easier to put things away.

The Dream Box is BEAUTIFUL. It's heavy and well made and just looks gorgeous in my room (and I love that's it'due south made in the The states). I hate decorating, then I love that the box is really all that I needed to make my room look great. The side doors of the box is especially nice for this – it's where you can go along things similar paints, ribbons, twine, etc. in rainbow club to make information technology await really pretty. In that location are clear lidded jars that are great for holding buttons, inks, stamps, etc., and I dearest the metal rods that hold my washi tape and ribbon. There'southward even a row of hooks on each outer door where yous can hang scissors, hole punches, etc.

Lastly, at that place are some really clever accessories and additional furniture pieces that you can employ to completely customize your space. In the infinite where you see my thread and serger, you lot tin can add together built in drawers. I have the left side tabular array, which gives me more work space, AND the Sew Station that features a elevator system that stows my sewing machine abroad when not in utilise. My complete fix is pretty sweet:

A craft organization system with a desk and multiple bins to hold supplies

I'll tell you even more about the Sew together Station in some other post coming adjacent week!

DreamBox Pros and Cons: what I don't honey

If yous're thinking of investing in a DreamBox, I desire you to know what I didn't love as well!

Set up takes a while. I had the prebuilt service, which is an add together-on to the base price. With the prebuilt service the three main pieces of the box are already constructed, which is wonderful. Nevertheless, information technology notwithstanding takes a couple of hours to unpack the crate, acquit in the three main pieces, attach them together, so intermission down the crate. And ya, it comes in aactually big crate.

Very large box in a garage

It probably took another 2 hours to add in all the shelves and bins. Without the prebuilt service, information technology would probably take three or 4 more hours, bringing the total assembly fourth dimension upwards to seven or eight hours. I LOVED having the prebuilt service to make things easier, merely if you lot don't listen putting together furniture and someone who tin can help, skipping it and going DIY is a good manner to save on the total cost.

Full toll is another thing I want to mention in this section. The DreamBox Arts and crafts Storage is is a large organizational system and as such information technology'southward an investment. Information technology can exist hard to justify a large purchase like this. I did find that when compared to the cost of built in shelving it'southward very reasonable. Additionally, it'due south been designed to anticipate the storage solutions a crafter needs, pregnant once you purchase the box you won't need to purchase additional boxes or bins (like you would with built in shelving).

The DreamBox doesn't piece of work great with an surface area rug. Information technology's pretty difficult to open and close the box if the wheels need to go over an area rug in your room. In one case the box is open you could certainly put a rug down, but if y'all desire to open and close the box regularly, the wheels grab on the border and that can be a hassle.

The side tables are cracking, only there are some things to consider. I have a left side table, and it'due south a smashing style to maximize my workspace and then I actually like information technology. Nevertheless, once it is installed, information technology's not super user-friendly to access the supplies in the bins that are now under the tabular array. I don't call back you'd want to put things you lot'll demand oftentimes underneath in that location. Too, if yous are short (like me) it'due south a piffling hard to accomplish the bins above information technology unless y'all stand up upwardly and walk to the other side of the tabular array. That'southward non a deal breaker, merely something to consider. Finally, the tabular array has to come out before yous can fold up the box and I find it hard to remove by myself. So if you're planning to close the box every fourth dimension you finish working that could be an outcome. I'll be leaving my box open, and then it's not a problem for me.
